Landscaping Memories

The project HEREDADE DE COMPORTA formed part of a plan for urban development and conservation in the coastal area of The Algarve, in the south of Portugal. As part of the project, the potential of this rural coastal area of 12.000ha for tourism was investigated. An initial survey to determine the potential touristic offer was undertaken, with special attention given to unique features of the zone which would be likely to generate strong, memorable images in the minds of visitors.

Within the parameters of the conservation order, outstanding features of the local architecture were identified and recommendations were made concerning construction materials to be used in order to maintain and promote the identities of the different zones investigated in the study.
